This concert is a tribute to the works of Rabindranath Tagore, Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak, and the part they have played in forming the dreamscape of Borno Anonyo.
The songs and music we have created together as a band has always found its inspiration and source in the bonds we share with each other. As a result ideas of homecoming, love, primal loss, intimate companionship, leaving, the child growing up, the inner world of urban melancholia keep returning in our songs much like in the works of Ray, Rabi and Ritwick. These three figure have often provided us the very words and frames which we use to express that which is innermost and closest to us.
The hopes and failures left to us by artists from the past often become the fodder upon which our present fantasies feed. This concert is a tribute to the winds which buffet the sails of Borno Anonyo, and a glimpse of what the waters ahead hold.
About the artist:
Borno Anonyo is the name under which a group of friends document music and a child that grows amongst them. The music is rooted firmly in urban Bengal, but with bridges across space and time that allow its tendrils to connect with literary modernism, mystic traditions, children’s rhymes, theatre and protest movements.
